Mamie Hall

April 21, 1910 — August 26, 2007

Former area resident, Mamie Hall, 97, died Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Linden Ridge, Mukwonago, Wisconsin.

Services will be Friday, August 31, 2007; 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Holstein, Nebraska with Rev. Harold King officiating. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, August 31, 2007; 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the organ fund at St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hall was born April 21, 1910 in Ottumwa, Iowa, daughter of Reverend and Mrs. Gustav Meyer. She was married to Edward Hall, III, on August 20, 1936 in Merrill, Iowa. She was a graduate of Westmar Academy and a cum laude graduate of Westmar University, LeMars, Iowa, with BA and BM degrees. Later, she attended the University of Nebraska for her post-graduate work, receiving a Masters of Music Degree. She taught music, English, Latin, and German in the Nebraska high schools for 32 years. In 1973, she and her husband moved to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She was a private piano and vocal instructor for many years; church organist for 75 years, beginning at age eleven; senior choir director over 50 years; Sunday school teacher and teenage Bible class teacher for 25 years. She and her husband also sponsored a Youth Center in Roseland, Nebraska. While living in Beaver Dam, Mrs. Hall was an active church member; serving as a Sunday school and teenage Bible class teacher; church organist; senior and junior choir director; and church officer. She was a volunteer for Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, organist for the weekly chapel services at Lakeview, and continued to play for the chapel services including St. Stephens at Hillside Manor. She was a member of St. Stephens Bible class, the Ladies Aid, and the OWLS. The Halls enjoyed traveling. Places of great interest included the Holy Land, Greece, many European countries, Russia and our beloved USA.

Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Dennis in 1984; her husband, Edward in 1988; one grandson, Edward Hall V; one brother, Scott; one son-in-law, Rev. Wallace Brookfield; three brothers-in-law, Ervin and Leland Hall and Rev. Edwin Friedrich; four sisters-in-law, Vivian Bosworth, Hazel and Beulah Hall, and Marvel Mahoney.
