Maressa Anne (Annie) Starkey passed into the Heavenly Father's arms on February 4, 2014 at 11:02PM. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family which included her mother Monti, her father Bill and her two brothers Joshua and Matthew.
Annie suffered from Hypoxic Encephalopathy and Cerebral Palsy caused by a uterine rupture during her birth. She lived in the family home in Hastings, Nebraska and enjoyed the constant attention of her family and the many nurses and doctors that helped her throughout her life of 22 years of innocent goodness.
Led by her mother, her team of caregivers gave her unconditional love that transformed God's miracle into their Annie Girl. Some would say that her family is now free to enjoy their lives and it was a "blessing", but little do they realize their error in understanding this family's unique lifestyle. Though it is very hard to comprehend the depths of joy, love, despair, isolation and sadness that Annie's family experienced during her lifetime, please understand that her family would do it again if God would give them the chance. For her family, their grief, pain and worry in Annie's life was wholly overshadowed by the huge rewards of love and joy in being a part of this Angel's life. Her family is not alone, for those of you who knew her will be forever changed by the gifts that her life brought into yours. We are all blessedfor our Lord God has touched so many through Annie's life.
Annie was born November 5, 1991 in Hastings to Bill O. & Monti M. (Montes) Starkey. She graduated from Hastings High School - Life Skills Program in 2010. She was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Hastings.
