Margaret Cordle, long-time resident of 1302 Westridge Drive in Hastings, 98, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger and Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016; 9:00 A.M. - 8:30 P.M. with family present 7:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Area Retired Teachers Association towards scholarships for future teachers or to the Hastings Public School Foundation to promote reading programs.
Margaret Elva Ramsay, daughter of William & Rebecca, was born in Bloomington, Nebraska in 1917. She was the wife of Robert Cordle, who preceded her in death. Margaret was a teacher for 50 years, 29 of those years were at Longfellow School. She was a 50 year member and past state president of the International Teacher's Honor Society ADK. Margaret was an active member of First United Methodist Church, the Hastings Area Retired Teachers Association, and the Elks Club. Margaret hosted bridge, competed at bowling, and golfed well into her nineties. Her flowers and candy were legendary. She taught us all and she will be missed.
She is survived by a daughter, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
