Margaret Payne

October 26, 1916 — March 17, 2005

Former Hastings area resident, 88, Margaret E. Payne, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, March 22, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Arthur Schakat officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mrs. Payne was born October 26, 1916 in Salina, Kansas to Elbert Michael & Esther (Holmgren) Lantz. She graduated from Salina Senior High School in 1934 and Married Roy Eugene Payne on July 26, 1939 in Independence, Missouri. They moved to Bennington, Kansas, then to Marysville, Kansas, then to Hastings, Nebraska in 1946. They returned to Marysville, Kansas in 1974 and to Trumbull, Nebraska in 1977. After Roy's death in 1983, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a lifetime member of Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Women's Auxiliary, a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Payne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, two sisters and three brothers.
