Margie Faber

Hastings resident Margie M. Faber, 96, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Caleb La Rue officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Foundation. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with family greeting friends at 6 p.m., and one hour prior to service at the church.

Margie was born April 25, 1922, near Heartwell, NE to Charles & Mary (Lange) Hahlweg. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1940. Margie married Paul S. Faber on September 23, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland, NE; he preceded her in death on July 3, 1970.

Margie worked as an instructor and clerk for Fabric Shoppe & Fabric Basket in Hastings and taught five years in rural schools in Kearney and Adams Counties. She was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Margie volunteered in the sewing room and different places at Good Samaritan Village.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul S. Faber; son, LaVaughn Faber; three brothers; and five sisters.
