Life long Hastings resident, Maria Hoff, 95, of Perkins Pavilion, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Perkins Pavilion.

Mrs. Hoff was born August 17, 1909 in Hastings, Nebraska to John J. & Anna M. (Klein) Wacker. She attended Hastings schools and graduated from Hastings High School in 1928. She was employed by Kool-Aid as a young girl, bagging Kool-Aid. The same year of her graduation, a different telegraph came into effect and she was chosen to attend school in Fremont, Nebraska to learn the new Teletype Telegraphy system. Upon completion of the three month course, she returned to the Hastings office for employment. She married Harold Hoff on May 3, 1930 and he preceded her in death on February 21, 1983. She was co owner/operator of Hoff Clearners then Deluxe Cleaners with her husband until Herbert Hodge became a co-partner. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, serving as organist and was a member of Group Four, a church group.
She was also an Eastern Star member.
Mrs. Hoff was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings; Etta Wacker, Carl Wacker, Flora Wacker and an infant sister.
