Marie Dreher

Hastings resident, Marie F. Dreher, 92, of The Kensington, died Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion.

Rosary will be Tuesday, February 12, 2008; 7:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, February 13, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, February 11, 2008; 5P.M.-9P.M., Tuesday, February 12, 2008; 9A.M-9P.M. with family present from 6P.M.-8P.M. at the funeral home and Wednesday, February 13, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorial contributions or a contribution in lieu of flowers may be made to the Cure JM Foundation, PO Box 2223, Mansfield, TX 76063. Marie's great grand daughter, Megan (age 8) has had Juvenile Myositis, a rare autoimmune disease, for the past 5 years. Granddaughter, Rhonda McKeever, is a board member of the Cure JM Foundation, an all volunteer foundation fighting for a cure for Juvenile Myositis.

Mrs. Dreher was born August 29, 1915 in Hastings, Nebraska to Frederick & Minnie (Schleeter) Nowka. She grew up in the rural Harvard, Nebraska area. She graduated in 1935 from Harvard High School. On April 24, 1937, she married Ernest G. Dreher at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings and he preceded her in death on January 6, 1986. She was a Human Resource Tech at the Hastings Regional Center for 30 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and Crosier Apostolate. She was active in volunteer work at the Golden Age Center and St. Michael's Church.

Mrs. Dreher was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; brother, Raymond Nowka and an infant daughter, Connie Sue Dreher.
