Hastings resident, Marie I. Saladen, 92, of 714 East 4th Street, died Thursday, October 5, 2006 at BryanLGH Medical Center East, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, October 10, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Neil Vik officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Golden Friendship Center, 509 So. Bellevue or Donor's Choice. Book signing will be Saturday, October 7, 2006; 9am-5pm, Monday, October 9, 2006; 9am-5pm at Butler-Volland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Saladen was born July 5, 1914 in Hastings, Nebraska to Henry & Margreth (Stertz) Blum. She attended Alcott Elementary School and graduated from Hastings High School in 1932. She was one of the original women to package Kool-Aid. She later worked at Dalton's Café. She was an apprentice at Robare's Beauty Shop where she earned her Beauty Operators license and was a cosmetologist for over 50 years. On May 26, 1967, she married Robert 'Bob' Saladen and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1986. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, American Legion Auxiliary, Y.W.C.A., & D.A.V. Auxiliary.
Mrs. Saladen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert 'Bob', five brothers, a grandson, a great granddaughter & a son-in-law.
