Marilyn Kitrell

November 24, 1932 — July 7, 2011

Hastings resident, Marilyn J. Kitrell, 78, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home.

Services will be Monday, July 11, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2011; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Saturday, July 9, 2011; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, July 10, 2011; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to P.E.O. Educational Loan Fund, First United Methodist Church, or Morrison Cancer Center.

Marilyn was born November 24, 1932 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Dale W. & Estella (Crosser) Reynolds. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1950. Marilyn graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1954 with a music major in piano. She married Lloyd R. Kitrell on June 3, 1956. Marilyn and Lloyd moved to Hastings in 1974 and in 1981 moved to Vincennes, Indiana. They returned to Hastings in 1991. Marilyn worked as a vocal music teacher for Ashland Public Schools and taught piano in several communities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hastings. She was also a lifetime member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and member of Order of the Eastern Star Meridian #74, Cozad, Nebraska; GK P.E.O. (past President), Hastings, Nebraska; and Lochland Country Club.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents.
