Marlita Burnham

Hastings resident, Marlita Mae Burnham, 78, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, August 28, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church or Juniata Alumni Association.

Marlita was born March 27, 1936 to Walter and Gertrude (Miller) Reiners. Marlita grew up on a farm six miles North of Juniata. She attended Country School #32, Christ Lutheran School, and attended Juniata High School and graduated in 1953. She married William Burnham on September 22, 1951. They have been married for almost 63 years. Marlita worked at OP Skaggs for 6 years. She was a full-time housewife and mother. She was a member of National Guard Ladies Auxiliary, Eagles, and an honorary member of the VFW. Marlita enjoyed bingo, playing cards, gardening and having fun. She loved family time, especially the holidays when all her family could get together. They all had a wonderful time.

Marlita was preceded in death by her parents; son, Scott Burnham; and son-in-law, Scott Stramel.
