Marlyn Wallace Coleman

Former Hastings resident Marlyn Wallace Coleman, 88, passed away on January 17, 2024 in Gardnerville, NV where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Marc Howell.  

 

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville on March 2, 2024. Marlyn will be laid to rest at a later date, in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, NE, at the Wallace family gravesites. She was preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Evelyn (Arnold) Wallace and brother, CG Wallace, III.

 

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Marc Howell (Gardnerville, NV); brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Peg Wallace (Hastings, NE); sister-in-law, Angie Wallace (Woodland Park, CO); three step-children; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Marlyn cherished every moment she spent with her family. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cottey College, 1000 W Austin Blvd, Nevada, MO 64772 or www.cottey.edu in memory of Marlyn.

 

Marlyn was born in Hastings, NE on September 11, 1935. She was raised in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. Marlyn graduated from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, CO. There she became a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.   She belonged to a PEO chapter in nearly every city she lived. Marlyn worked as a travel agent and became a world traveler herself. She particularly favored the Orient. Mar was a master seamstress and especially enjoyed designing and sewing her daughter’s wedding gown.  

                        

Marlyn’s faith and spiritual life were a very important part of her life, she deeply loved the Lord. May she rest in peace.
