Marmion Yeagley, Sr

Hastings resident, Marmion F. "Marm" Yeagley, Sr., 97, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial service will be held at a later date at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mary Lanning Healthcare Hospice.

Marm was born February 7, 1919 in Hastings, Nebraska to Christopher Orlando & Opal Vadelia (Lippincott) Yeagley. He graduated from Grand Island High School and went back for a 13th year because of his unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Marm graduated from Hastings College in 2 ½ years Summa Cum Laude in 1949 with degrees in political science and economic theory. He was able to attend and graduate from Hastings College because of the G.I. Bill that was passed after World War II. Marm served in the U.S. Army from May 20, 1944 until March 2, 1945 during World War II in the Philippines as a 1st Lieutenant.

Marm married Betty Jane Stark on April 8, 1939 in Smith Center, Kansas; she preceded him in death on February 20, 2012. He worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot as the Director of Engineering & Design, until it was decommissioned in June of 1966. Marm was involved in real estate renovating houses for apartments before his retirement when he and Betty moved to Good Samaritan Village. He was a past member of the Mid-West Lodge #317 A.F. & A.M., Shriners, Scottish Rite, and played the calliope at many Shrine events. Marm was a past member of First Christian Church and lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Dad had a tremendous zest for life and there was always a tomorrow, "well Dad, tomorrow is here."

Marm was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Jane (Stark) Yeagley; one nephew; several uncles; and one aunt.
