Martha Root

Hastings resident, Martha M. Root, 81, of Perkins Pavilion, died Friday, November 5, 2004 at Perkins Pavilion.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, November 9, 2004; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Neil Vik officiating. Private family interment in the Arnold Cemetery, Arnold, Nebraska at a later date.

Mrs. Root was born April 22, 1923 in Eddyville, Nebraska to Mike G. & Eva M. (Warner) Barta. She moved to the Hastings area in 1949. She married Fay V. Root on April 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a nurses aide in Arnold, Harvard and Sutton, Nebraska in geriatrics. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Harvard, Nebraska.

Mrs. Root was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Fay, three brothers, George, Edward and an infant, Chester Barta.
