Hastings resident, Marvin J. Mangers, 73, of Perkins Pavilion, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion.
Rosary will be Sunday, July 6, 2008; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 7, 2008; 10:00 A M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, with Father Christopher P. Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, July 5, 2008 1 P.M. - 9 P.M. and Sunday, July 6, 2008 1 P.M. - 9 P.M. Memorials may be given to the family.
Mr. Mangers was born February 17, 1935 in Roseland, Nebraska to Ervin J. Sr. and Martha A. (Beiriger) Mangers. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1952 and moved to Hastings in 1955. He married Charlotte Zubrod in 1955. They moved to Los Angeles, California in 1957 and Charlotte preceded him in death in 1968. He moved to Sterling, Colorado in 1968. He worked for Stuckey's Pecan Shops as a District Manager for many years. He married Peggy A. Scheid on April 12, 1976 and they moved from Sterling, Colorado to Minden, Nebraska in 1984, where he managed Pioneer Village for 17 years. After retiring they moved to Republican City, Nebraska in 2000 and to Hastings in 2007. Peggy preceded him in death on August 8, 2007. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Naponee, Nebraska and is a current member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.
Mr. Mangers was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Charlotte, 2nd wife, Peggy, brothers, Jerry and Ervin Jr. and a granddaughter, Jessica Mangers.
