Mary Buss

Hastings resident, Mary L. Buss, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Juniata, Nebraska with Pastor Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be at Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12, 2012; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Friday, January 13, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church & School Endowment Fund or Perkins Pavilion for hospice rooms.

Mary was born May 19, 1926 in Adams County on the family farm near Prosser, Nebraska to Malcolm & Johanna M. (Boltz) McLeod. She graduated from Juniata High School on May 17, 1942 and attended Hastings College where she received her teaching certificate. Mary married Harold E. Buss on January 26, 1947 at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Juniata, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on May 14, 1980. She taught school at Adams County District 32 and Hall County District 60, bookkeeper for Union 76 Truck Plaza at Alda, Nebraska, and was the administrator for Sunnyside Home. Mary was a homemaker, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Ladies Guild. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold E. Buss; grandson, Jared Buss; and brother, William McLeod.
