Hastings resident Mary S. Giesler, 63, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at her home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings with Rev. Greg Allen-Pickett and Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church or First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Mary was born March 5, 1960, in Grand Island, NE to Marvin and Patsy (Moore) Davis. She lived in Pauline growing up and went to Pauline and Blue Hill Schools. Then she moved to Hastings where she graduated from Hastings High School in 1978 and attended Hastings College for two years. Mary married Norman Giesler on October 4, 1986; he preceded her in death on January 13, 2020.
Mary owned and operated Bob Cat’s Den Restaurant in Blue Hill, NE. She also worked as a nurse's aide at Mary Lanning Healthcare. Mary was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, drawing, going to the casinos, playing games and puzzles, and watching old TV shows.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman Giesler; sister-in-law, Jane Davis; and brother, Jerry Davis.
