Mary Sowers

Hastings resident, Mary Lou (Korgan) Sowers, 67, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015 at CHI Health St. Elizabeth, Lincoln, Nebraska surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be Friday, July 17, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Inland Cemetery, Inland. Memorials may be given to Inland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 16, 2015; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present, and one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.

Mrs. Sowers was born June 25, 1948, to George and Anna (Jenssen) Korgan in Hastings, Nebraska. She attended Trumbull school before moving to Hastings. She graduated from Hastings Senior High School in 1966. She attended Joseph's College of Beauty. On September 2, 1967 she married John Joseph Sowers, Jr. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and made their home in Hastings, Nebraska. To this union, two sons Christopher and Jason were born. She worked as a hair stylist, and later a homemaker and bookkeeper for Sower's Automotive in Hastings, Nebraska. John and Mary Lou later moved to Blue Hill, Nebraska until her husband's passing and she later returned to Hastings. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she enjoyed helping in the kitchen and other activities, Red Hat Society and was a member of an extension club. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, decorating, spending time with her family, and having visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna; husband, John J. Sowers, Jr., brother, Chester Korgan; and an infant sister.
