Marylouise (Brown) Sharp

Hastings resident Marylouise (Brown) Sharp, 96, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE. 

Memorial Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 14, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. A book signing will be 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, October 12, and one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Marylouise was born March 24, 1928, to Ernest and Josie Brown of Edgar, NE. She went through grade school there until they moved to Hastings, NE. Marylouise was united in marriage in Marysville, KS to Cecil Sharp of Asher, OK. They lived there awhile before moving back to Hastings.

Marylouise loved to dance, collected horse figurines, key chains, and many other things, and loved to embroider making many pillow tops for gifts. She worked in many cafes plus the Maxson Cafe that was in the Navy Depot. Marylouise worked in the Carter Hotel until it closed.

Marylouise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Sharp; daughter, Jewell (Sharp) Stromer; granddaughter, Judy Kay Stromer; brothers and spouses, Floyd & Georgia Brown, Gene & Betty Brown, Louis & Jeanne Brown, and Bob & Judy Brown; sisters and spouses, Gladys & Harry Waggoner, Elsie & Melvin Porter; and Ernestine & Ralph Sprague.
