Mavon Zubrod

Hastings resident, Mavon C. Zubrod, 69, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at her home.

Rosary will be Thursday, February 18, 2016; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 19, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption, with Father Jonathan Haschke and Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Trust or Start Over Rover. Visitation will be Thursday, February 18, 2016; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Mavon was born April 3, 1946 in Hastings, Nebraska to Harold & Mathilda "Tillie" (Goedert) Parr. She attended St. Cecilia High School. Mavon married Curtis J. Zubrod on November 30, 1963 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on September 23, 2010. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society. Mavon volunteered at Catholic Social Services for many years. She enjoyed delivering everything from flowers to business products, often times inviting friends to join her for the ride. Mavon enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, and baking for neighbors, friends and family. She was a true caregiver and was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Mavon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis J. Zubrod; one daughter, Robin Zubrod; and brother, Phil Parr.
