Maxine Borley

Hastings resident, Maxine (Emma Lou) Borley, 90, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Requiem Eucharist will be Friday, July 22, 2016; 11:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, The Very Rev. Catherine Scott will officiate. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice, MS Society - Midland Chapter, or Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral Foundation. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Maxine was born September 3, 1925 in Comanche, Oklahoma. She grew up in Texas and met her husband, Harry Borley, in Abilene, Texas while he was stationed in the Army. They were married on May 1, 1943 and made their home in Hastings.

Through the years she retained some of her southern accent and always maintained a twinkle in her eye and a humorous attitude toward life. Maxine worked as a manager of the Hastings College Bookstore and as the Treasurer of Borley Storage and Transfer until her retirement.

Maxine was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, past President of PEO, Chapter GK, past President of Sunnyside Board, Fortnightly study group, and Senior Warden of St. Mark's.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Oma Ballinger; husband, Harry A. Borley; sister, Carlene Gridry; and daughter, Phyllis Daniels.
