Former Hastings resident, Maxine F. Buttell, 93, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at The Kensington in Beatrice, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Thursday, October 29, 2009; 7:00 P.M., at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 30, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Andrew Heaslip officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, and 1 hour prior to service at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church for masses to be celebrated in her name.
Maxine was born December 25, 1915 in Hastings, Nebraska to James & Elizabeth (Amen) Long. She graduated from Hastings High School. She married Joseph H. Buttell and was a homemaker, he later preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Hastings until moving to Beatrice in the spring of 2009. Maxine was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. While she lived in Hastings, she was a member of the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Cecilia's Altar Society serving in various offices, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph H. Buttell; sister, Edwine Haynes; and brother-in-law, Sid Haynes.
