Former Hastings resident, Maxine Jeannette (Alberts) Stimbert age 85 died Saturday, February 17, 2007 in Omaha, NE

Services will be Thursday, February 22, 2007;10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be sent to the family for Maxine's favorite charities. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21, 2007; 5PM-9PM at the funeral home and Thursday, February 22, 2007, 1 hr. prior to service at the church.

Mrs. Stimbert was born December 16, 1921 in Sutton, NE to Ernest E. Alberts and Jeannette (Rants) Alberts. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1939. Worked at Hesteds, Brach Thompson and the NAD/Navy Ammunition Depot - Bomb and Mine Line east of Hastings. After explosions at the NAD in April and September of 1944, Maxine enlisted in the Woman's Army Corp. Nov. 1944. She was inducted at Ft. Crook in Omaha, NE, boot camp in DesMoines, Iowa and was stationed at four Military hospitals: Fort Warren-Cheyenne, WY, William Beaumont-El Paso, TX, Winter General-Topeka, KS and Halloran General-Staten Island, NY. Maxine was a surgical technician Tech 4 Sergeant. She received the American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and Meritorious Service Unit Award. Her separation center was in Ft. Sheridan, Ill Aug. 1946

June 29, 1947 Maxine married Clayton Stimbert of Inland, NE. Maxine was married for 34 years when Clayton died January 1982. Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She volunteered as a Girl Scout assistant leader, Mary Lanning Hospital Volunteer and member of Woman in Military Service to America. Maxine was a seamstress and custom framer at her daughters business Shirley's Interiors in Hastings, NE.

Maxine moved to Omaha, NE January 2002 and lived at Fountain View Independent Living Apartments.

Preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Jeannette Alberts, husband Clayton Stimbert, brothers Robert Alberts and Eugene Alberts, sisters Selma (Alberts) Steiner, and Doris (Alberts) Thaut.

Survived by daughters Shirley Burnham of Omaha, NE and Karen Stimbert-Guck and Son-in-law Thomas Guck of Omaha, NE, grandchildren Carl Burnham and wife Amanda of Perris, CA, Adam Guck of Omaha, NE and Emily Guck of Omaha. Sister Mary Hohlen of Hastings, NE, brothers Mark Alberts of Gautier, MS and Richard Alberts of David City, NE. Many loved nieces, nephews and friends.

Maxine had a stroke February 10, 2007 and died February 17, 2007 surrounded by loved ones.
