Maxwell A. Goble, 86, of 2420 W. 12th St. died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at his son's home.
Rosary will be Tuesday, May 6, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 7, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Maxwell A. Goble was born June 3, 1916 in Ayr, Nebraska to Jay & Marguerite (Carroll) Goble. He graduated from Ayr High School in 1935. On May 25, 1938, he married Lucile Buzzard and she preceded him in death on February 28, 1998. He served in the United States Navy from 1936-1940. In 1941, he re-enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Hawaii for fifteen months training soldiers for amphibious landings until his transfer to the Philippine Islands. He attained the rank of Lieutenant junior grade and was discharged in 1945. In 1945, they moved to Hastings from California. He was in construction management establishing his own company, Goble & Otto Construction, in 1958. In 1973, he joined Westland Modular Homes, retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, serving as it's first commander in 1950-1951. He served on the Adams County Fairboard, raised quarter horses and was a 4-H leader for many years.
Maxwell A. Goble was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lucile and one brother, Gaylord Goble.
