Maybel Scheiding

Hastings resident, Maybel Scheiding, 80, of 519 Lane E, Good Samaritan Village, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Tuesday, November 25, 2008; 1:00 P.M at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska with Pastor Joshua Lowe and Pastor James Witt officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2008; 1:00 P.M. -9:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. Casket will remain closed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill. Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran School, Hastings or Trinity Lutheran Sunday School, Blue Hill.

Mrs. Scheiding was born February 4, 1928 in Webster County, near Rosemont, Nebraska to John & Anna (Johnson) Buss. She attended District #51 in Adams County and then Trinity Lutheran School in Blue Hill. She received her GED at Central Community College Campus Center in Hastings in 1999. She married Walter Scheiding on February 1, 1948 and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1989. Together they were involved in the restaurant business for 25 years. She also worked for Big G Store in Hastings. In 1980, Maybel owned and operated the Blue Hill Floral until her retirement in 1990. She worked part-time for Merten-Butler Mortuary in Blue Hill. In August of 2001, she moved to Good Samaritan Village and volunteered at the Senior Center and worked part-time for Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings at the time of her death and was a former member of Trinity Lutheran in Blue Hill.

Mrs. Scheiding was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brothers, Arthur & Harold Buss and a sister, Adeline Goos.
