Melvin Minkler

August 17, 1928 — January 11, 2009

Hastings resident, Melvin Minkler, 80, of 614 N. Laird, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Thursday, January 15, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2009; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 14, 2009; 9:00 A.M.- 9:00 P.M. with family present from 7:00P.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Thursday, January 15, 2009, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the Mary Lanning Oncology Department.

Mr. Minkler was born August 17, 1928 in Smith County, Kansas to Ernest & Bertha (Mankey) Minkler. He married Darline M. Haas on April 1, 1950 in Norton, Kansas. He farmed and was a lineman for Scott Construction in the northwest part of the country. They moved to Nebraska and he worked on a dairy farm and then detailed cars and worked in the repair shop at Laird Motors for over 30 years before retiring. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was part of a coffee group that met at Wendy's.

Mr. Minkler was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Beulah Black, Louella Daniels & Ruth Correll and a brother, Ralph Minkler.
