Merle Erickson

Former Hastings resident, Merle A. Erickson, 91, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Manly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Manly, Iowa.

Services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2002;10:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church, 401 N. Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Farris and Rev. Thomas Murray officiating. Burial will be in Hordville Cemetery, Hordville, Nebraska at 2:00 P.M.

Merle A. Erickson was born January 17, 1911 in Hordville, Nebraska to Carl & Jennie (Larson) Johnson. She graduated from Hordville High School in 1927 and married Virgil Erickson in Hordville, Nebraska on June 7, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1976. They moved to Grand Island, Nebraska from Hordville in 1940 and to Hastings, Nebraska in 1942. She worked at Hastings Senior High School in the cafeteria and later at Custom Pack for 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and held many church offices.

Merle A. Erickson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Virgil, step mother, Esther Johnson, 1 daughter, Kathryn and 1 brother, Donald.

Daughter & Son-in-law: Twila & David Okerlund - Clear Lake, IA

Memorial may be given to First Baptist Church
