Former Hastings resident, Merle R. Sherman,59, of Holdrege, Nebraska, died Monday, March 28, 2005 at St. John's Good Samaritan Center, Kearney, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, April 2, 2005; 11:00 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Harold D. Stromer officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska.
Mr. Sherman was born December 26, 1945 in Hastings, Nebraska to Mark T. & Laurene (George) Sherman. He graduated from Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Nebraska, in 1964 and Southeast Community College in Lincoln, Nebraska. On November 4, 1967, he married Kay M. Burge in Ayr, Nebraska. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a mechanic for Kansas-Nebraska Energy in Hastings and then in Holdrege, Nebraska until 1997.He moved to Holdrege, Nebraska and worked for Fairbanks Farm Equipment from 1997 until 2001. In November of 2001, he moved to Kearney, Nebraska. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Hastings, American Motorcyclist Association and National Rifle Association.
Mr. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents.
