Michael Hamel

Michael L. "Mick" Hamel, 63, formally of Hastings, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings.

Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Marcelle Hamel officiating. Memorial service and burial will be held at a later date in North Platte. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be given to the Hamel Athletic Scholarship Fund. Mick was born December 21, 1954 to Eugene & Liona (Clement) Hamel in North Platte, Nebraska. Mick graduated from Hastings High School. He was a life-long artist and athlete. Mick enjoyed coaching many sports. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Through his gift of storytelling, Mick had the ability to bring laughter.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Mark Hamel.

Mick is survived by his daughters and son-in-law; Michaela & Mike Schweitzer of Broken Bow, NE and Katrina Hamel of New York City, NY; significant other, Susan Little of North Platte, NE; siblings & spouses, Penny & Gary Stephens of Lincoln, NE, Mark (deceased) & Marcelle Hamel of Wichita, KS, Donna & Richard Perkins of North Platte, NE, and Terry Christlieb of Trophy Club, TX; step-children, Julie Foreman & significant other, Greg Scott and John Dugger; Grandchildren, Jack, Brielle, Colt, Britlee, and Brigham; and numerous nieces, nephews and many other family members.
