Mildred Katherine Curtis, 96, a longtime resident of the Hastings area died Sunday, December 19, 2004 at St. Joseph Villa, Omaha, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, December 23, 2004; 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Dr. William Deahl Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Ms. Curtis was born February 26, 1908 in Sacramento, Nebraska to Albert Theodore and Anna Carolina (Person) Curtis. She graduated from Harvard, Nebraska High School. She later volunteered for duty with the Women's Army Air Corps, serving for four years during WWII and two additional years during the Korean conflict. Ms. Curtis was a graduate of Hastings College. She later earned a Master's Degree in education from Pittsburg State College, Pittsburg, Kansas. She taught for many years in the Hastings, Grand Island and District 15 school systems. Upon her retirement she remained in Hastings, enjoying church and lodge activities with family and friends. She was a proud member of the tri-city area Women Vets organization. A longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Hastings, she also was affiliated with the Rebekah Lodge and Eastern Star.
Ms. Curtis was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Roscoe, Kenneth and Paul C. Curtis.
