Mildred Jensen

Hastings resident, Mildred Jensen, 92, of 1418 Pershing Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at her home.

Services will be Monday, March 26, 2007; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may go to the Shrine Auxiliary or Morrison Cancer Center. Visitation will be Sunday, March 25, 2007; 1PM-9PM with family present from 2PM-5PM & Monday, March 26, 2007; 9AM until service time.

Mrs. Jensen was born July 4, 1914 in Harvard, Nebraska to Frederick & Carrie (Wing) Turner. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1932 and attended Cotner College in Lincoln. She taught school in Clay County for 4 years. She moved from Harvard to Hastings in 1937 and graduated from Mary Lanning School of Nursing in 1940. She worked at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital as a Surgical Nurse. On August 27, 1942, she married Ed Jensen in Lawton, Oklahoma, and resided there and in Gainsville, Texas. She was employed at Augustana General Hospital in Lawton as a Surgical Nurse. She moved back to Hastings when Ed was deployed over seas and worked at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. She retired in 1979 as the Supervisor of the Surgical Department, and continued to work part time until 1985. She was a member of First Christian Church, Y.W.C.A, Tehama Shrine Auxiliary, Elks Country Club in Hastings and the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter #39 and Kensington. She was a member of Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital Alumni Association of Surgical Nurses.

Mrs. Jensen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Maurice Turner.
