Milferd Swedlund

Former Hastings resident, Milferd R. Swedlund, 90, of Omaha, Nebraska, died Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, April 22, 2005; 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be Friday, April 22, 2005; 2:00 P.M. in Upland Cemetery, Upland, Nebraska.

Mr. Swedlund was born November 9, 1914 on the family farm near Upland, in Franklin County Nebraska to Arthur & Emily (Nelson) Swedlund. He graduated from Upland High School in 1933. On August 10, 1939, he married Anna M. Hubert and she preceded him in death on December 23, 2002. They farmed in the Trumbull and Hansen areas and moved to Hastings in 1975, when they retired. Milferd loved working the land and enjoyed raising livestock as part of his farming operation. He was an elder in the Hansen Presbyterian Church. He was a 4-H leader for many years, assisting his five children with their livestock. He had served on the Trumbull School Board and the Trumbull Co-op Elevator Board. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Nebraska. He moved to Omaha, Nebraska in April of 2003.

Mr. Swedlund was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anna, an infant son and one brother.
