Hastings, Nebraska resident, Milo LeRoy Kirkegaard, 86, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Nebraska Veterans Home, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Private family burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Catholic Social Services or St. Cecilia's Catholic Schools Endowment Fund. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Milo was born June 8, 1928 in Beresford, South Dakota to Phillip and Dora (Tanderup) Kirkegaard. He graduated Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa and received his Bachelor of Science degree in business from Morningside College in Sioux City. He served in the United States Army from September 10, 1946 - December 20, 1947. He married Rita Hanson on August 25, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa. Milo was an accountant for Metz baking company for 37 years before his retirement. He was a boy scout leader for many years and saw all 3 of his sons attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Milo was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Pius XII Council 1123 - 3rd Degree, Knights of Columbus Pope Pius XII Assembly 608 - 4th Degree.

Milo was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Kirkegaard; sister, Marian Hintz; brothers, Clayton, Leo, Dale, Robert, Virgil, and Paul Kirkegaard.
