Milton Ruhter

Juniata resident, Milton Erwin Ruhter, 90, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Oxbow Living Center, Ashland, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, September 2, 2016; 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Juniata with Pastor Greg Volzke officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, rural Juniata, with a lunch to follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran School, 13175 W. 70th St., Juniata, NE 68955. Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2016; 9:30 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. with the family present at the church.

Milton was born on September 24, 1925 to Erwin and Irene (Meyer) Ruhter. He attended school thru 8th grade at Christ Lutheran. He graduated from Juniata High School in 1943. He was a farmer in rural Juniata until his retirement in 1995. He received the Local Kiwanis Farmer of the Year in 1990. In 1994 he was recognized by the Water Quality Board of the State of Nebraska for practicing environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

He married Evelyn E. Karr on April 5, 1953. They had three children, Martin L. Ruhter, Marsha J. (Trosper) and Bryan L. Ruhter.

Milton was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church serving on various committees - the Board of Evangelism, Sunday School Superintendent, Building Committee, Couples Club, the Men's Choir, and the Lutheran Layman's League.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn E. Ruhter; son, Martin; sisters, Phyllis (Morven) Woolhether and Delores Ruhter; brothers, Waldo and Lawrence Ruhter; and his nephew, Warren Ruhter.
