(Mina) Snell

February 25, 1922 — August 28, 2013

Former Juniata resident, (Mina) Jane Snell, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska following an extended illness.

Services will be Saturday, August 31, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. In lieu of food or flowers, memorials may be given to Juniata Cemetery Association, Juniata Community Church, or charity of choice. Visitation will be Friday, August 30, 2013; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present at the funeral home.

Jane was born February 25, 1922, to Lindley M. & Ray Anna (Kuntz) Overfield in Prosser, Nebraska. She attended Prosser schools until 10th grade and then graduated from Juniata High School in 1939. On November 16, 1940, she married Charles L. Snell in Juniata. She lived in Juniata until failing health forced her to move to Hastings in 1998. She was a homemaker and volunteered time to many organizations including Adams County Red Cross, Grand Island Veteran's Home, Kenesaw Haven Home, Good Samaritan Village, Juniata Public Schools, Adams County Senior Services, Juniata Cemetery Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and others. She was on the board of directors and served as an officer in many of these associations. She was the recipient of the Bill Sole Community Service Award. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Legion Post Unit #365 of Juniata. She was an active member of the Juniata Community Church. When her health permitted it, Jane traveled extensively and particularly enjoyed trips to Colorado to visit and enjoy the mountains. She enjoyed reading, needlework, playing cards and sports, especially Husker football. She organized and attended many family reunions.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Charles L. Snell.
