Mona A. Searby, 95, of the Kensington, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at the Kensington.

Burial will be Tuesday, May 4, 2004; 1:00 P.M. at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska with Dr. Rev. William G. Nottage-Tacey officiating. Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 4, 2004; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Dr. Rev. William Nottage-Tacey officiating.

Ms. Searby was born February 9, 1909 in Fillmore County, Nebraska to Charles Wesley & Alverda May (Thomas) Barclay. She lived in Friend, Nebraska area in her young life, graduated from Friend High School and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska.
She taught school in two rural schools in Saline County and at Bradshaw, Fairmont, Friend, York and Hastings. On July 3, 1947 she married Charles Robert (Bob) Searby at Friend. She lived in Lincoln for three years, then moved to Hastings in 1950 where they made their home. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1999. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught in the church school, worked in the Women's Association and served as a deacon. She was a member and past president of Chapter DA P.E.O. , a member of the American Literature Club in Hastings and the Rebekah Lodge #58 in Friend. Past memberships included Delta Kappa Gamma and AAUW.

Ms. Searby was preceded in death by her parents and husband Charles Robert (Bob) Searby.
