Hastings resident, Morris "Buck" B. Ellerbee, 93, of Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, September 1, 2010, 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Christ, Hastings, Nebraska with Minister Russ Dudrey officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the Mike Ellerbee, Hastings Midget Football Program Fund or Perkins Pavilion Hospice Rooms Fund. Visitation will be Monday, August 30, 2010; 1 P.M. - 9 P.M., Tuesday, August 31, 2010; 9 A.M. - 9 P.M. (with family present from 5 P.M. - 7 P.M.) at Butler Volland Funeral Home; and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
Buck Ellerbee was born January 7, 1917 in Anderson County, Texas to Walter W. & Melissa (Jenkins) Ellerbee. He graduated from Shamrock High School, Shamrock, Texas. Buck married Zelma Pillers on May 30, 1936 and she preceded him in death on February 6, 2006. They moved from Amarillo, Texas in 1954 to Hastings. Buck owned and operated Abbott's Dairy in Hastings. Buck was a member of the Church of Christ and was very active in many community and fraternal organizations in Hastings, including serving on the Adams County Board of Supervisors from 1982 - 1994.
Buck Ellerbee was preceded in death by his parents, wife Zelma Pillers Ellerbee, son Michael Ellerbee, daughter-in-law: Karen Ellerbee, great-grandson, Colten Michael Ellerbee, sister, Julia Buckingham, brother, Sam Ellerbee and half brother, Roy Patterson.
