Myrtle Hanson

July 5, 1934 — February 8, 2010

Hastings resident, Myrtle "Faye" Hanson, 75, passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Tuesday, February 16, 2010; 10:00 A.M. at First Christian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Judith Allen officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, February 14, 2010; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Monday, February 15, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to 4-H Club.

Myrtle was born July 5, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas to Charles & Faye Lavern (Shultz) Booth. She graduated 8th grade from Yokohoma American Elementary School in Japan. In 1952, she graduated from Edmond High School, Edmond, Kansas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in home economics in Oklahoma, and received her Master of Science degree in family economics in Kansas. She worked as a home agent for 4-H in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma. Then she moved to Hastings and became the home agent for the Adams County from 1966 to 1968 and was a foster parent for Health and Human Services. On December 6, 1969 she married George K. Hanson at the First Christian Church in Hastings. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2002. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Extension Club, and Business & Professional Women.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George K. Hanson; sister, Linda Booth; and sister-in-law, Irene Katzberg.
