Hastings resident, Nancy Jo Beach, 79, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at her home.
Memorial Services will be Saturday, June 11, 2016; 1:00 P.M. at All Saints Chapel - Good Samaritan Society, Hastings with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Private family burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Republican City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Acacia Chapter #39 Order of the Eastern Star. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Nancy Jo Beach was the oldest of three daughters born to Andrew and Ila Mae (Ellrod) Swanson. Nancy began her life on January 11, 1937 in Naponee, Nebraska; she died on May 23, 2016 at 3:25 P.M. in Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 4 months and 12 days.
Nancy's young years were spent on a farm south of Wood River, Nebraska. Later her father began construction work and the family lived in various communities across Nebraska. She graduated high school at Franklin, Nebraska in May of 1954, and traveled for Western Union as a relief operator until her marriage to Leland "Lee" Beach of Franklin on December 21, 1954.
To this union three children were born Bruce Allen, Cynthia Lee and Jeffrey Wayne. After Lee's Navy service was completed, the family settled in Hastings, Nebraska. Nancy began working for Kansas-Nebraska National Gas Company (later known as K N Energy, Inc.) in 1965. She retired after 30 years of service in 1995 when she and her husband relocated to Republican City, Nebraska to enjoy many years of retirement.
Nancy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Republican City and the Women of the ELCA Bible Group. She served many years with Acacia Chapter #39 with the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron. Nancy was also a Naamah Temple 108 of The Daughter's of the Nile. She spent her free time doing hand work, planting flowers, and playing bridge. After the death of her husband Lee, she relocated back to Hastings where she lived at the Good Samaritan Retirement Village. There she was active as a volunteer at the library and also sang with the Village Choir and played with the Chimes Group.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother; husband, Leland on April 5, 2012; and their oldest son, Bruce Allen on February 25, 2008.
