Nancy Smith

Hastings resident, Nancy C. (Chew) Smith, 83, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.

Memorial services will be Saturday, September 8, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be Thursday, September 6, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Friday, September 7, 2012; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Born November 19, 1928 at Woodbury, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Samuel Jacob Chew and Edna Mae Keen, and the step-daughter of Marian F. Berger Chew. She was a graduate of Woodbury High School and worked several years thereafter for the Insurance Company of North America in Philadelphia. On August 13, 1955, she married Rev. Theodore H. Smith, Jr. in Woodbury. She was a resident of Hastings, NE for nearly 50 years and an active member of her church and community. Nancy worked at Pooh Corner, Sunnyside, and Butler Volland Funeral Home.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Theodore H. Smith, Jr.; step-mother, Marian F. Berger Chew; and brother, A. Martin Berger.

She is survived by:
