Hastings resident, Neil Grinstead, 92, passed away, Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings Village.
Services are10:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings with Pastor Daniel Delzell officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation is 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Thursday, with prayer service following at 7:00 P.M. at Livingston-Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings. Memorials may be given to the Perkins Hospice Suite Project of Good Samaritan Society Perkins Pavilion, Hastings Village.
Mr. Grinstead was born in Roby, Texas on June 7, 1916. He married Frances Langdon on January 9, 1944 in Litchfield Park, Arizona. They moved to Hastings in January of 1947. Neil owned Toms Toasted Peanut and Candy Distributors, was manager at Hohlfeld Paint Store on North Hastings and at Morris Paint on South Burlington. Neil was a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church for 60 years.
Survivors are one son, Jerry Sr. of Trabuco Canyon, CA., and his wife Jacquie; three daughters, Karen Ransom of Hastings and her husband Howard, Phyllis McTee and Chuck Whitney of Hastings, and Mary Creigh of Hastings; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 12 (soon to be 14) great-great grandchildren.
