Nelda Trisco

Hastings resident, Nelda Grace Trisco, 89, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Saturday, April 16, 2011; 11:00 A.M. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Hastings with Pastors Ron Johnson and Jim Gordon officiating. There will be no visitation. In honor of her love for children, memorials may be given to Royal Family Kids.

Nelda was born September 12, 1921, in Danbury, Nebraska, to William Ray & Ruby May (Axtell) Hindman. She graduated from York High School in York, Nebraska. She married Daniel DeWitt on October 12, 1941; they later divorced. She then married Robert Trisco; he preceded her in death in June 1996. Before marriage, Nelda worked at the Child Saving Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, the Children's Hospital in Lincoln, and a private school for girls in Denver, Colorado. After her children were in school, Nelda worked at the Hastings Regional Center until her retirement; after her retirement she worked at the Kensington. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Her strong faith and her love for "children and people" was evident in her lifetime of volunteer work. While in Hastings, she attended both the Church of Christ and the First Christian Church and was an active leader of various youth programs including Sunday School, Christian Youth Fellowship, and Vacation Bible School, and was also involved in Christian Women's Fellowship. After moving, she continued working with these programs at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in York, Nebraska, where she also served as an elder. In addition, she volunteered at Mahoney House leading weekly devotions, sing alongs, or birthday parties.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Daniel DeWitt and Robert Trisco; two sisters; and one grandson.
