Hastings resident, Neoma B. Bartley, 97, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Monday, February 10, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be Sunday, February 9, 2014; 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the chapel. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
Neoma was born May 27, 1916 in Blue Hill, Nebraska to Lee & Verna (Wright) Barcus. She graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1935 and married Ronald "Buck" Bartley on November 27, 1942 at Smith Center, Kansas; he preceded her in death on September 22, 1992. They lived in Red Cloud until moving to Hastings in 1962. Neoma worked for JCPenny Company for 30 years and was a member of the Methodist Church in Red Cloud and the Rebekah Lodge in Red Cloud and Hastings. After moving to Good Samaritan Village in 1985, Neoma worked tirelessly as a volunteer organizing the Silver Belles to assist with dinners and worked over 1,000 volunteer hours a year at the GSV Bargain Center until 2007. She loved to sing in the choir, visit her friends and was always ready to dance.
Neoma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald "Buck" Bartley; step-mothers, Marie (Traut) Barcus and Gertrude (Goll) Barcus; and son-in-law, Mike Keeler.
