Hastings resident, Nicholas J. Streff, 86, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary will be Friday, October 18, 2013; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 19, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools. Visitation will be Friday, October 18, 2013; 2:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Nicholas was born on May 20, 1927 in Adams County, Nebraska to Charles & Elizabeth (Weber) Streff. He graduated from Roseland High School. Nicholas served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from August 14, 1946 until January 19, 1948. He married Wuanita V. Willmes on January 24, 1950 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. Nicholas worked as a carpenter for nearly 50 years at Westland Building Company. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Third Degree.
Nicholas was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and four brothers.
