Former Hastings resident, Nina Lucille Lavachek-Wilkins, died Monday, June 27, 2005 at Maranatha Village, Springfield, Missouri.
Services will be Friday, July 1, 2005; 2:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Bartley K. Wilkins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Mrs. Wilkins was born June 25, 1912 to Joseph & Harriet (Goldsmith) Lavachek. The family home was on a farm near Sisseton, South Dakota. On December 29, 1934, she married Lawrence E. Wilkins. They were involved in Christian Ministry all through their marriage. Their first pastorate was in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota and from there they went to Gaylord, Michigan. After a brief tenure there, they moved to Nebraska where they continued in ministry pasturing at Beaver City, Pawnee City, Ord, Dalton, Lexington, Kearney and North Platte. They founded New Life Assembly in Kearney in 1954 and pastured there for seventeen years before moving on to First Assembly in North Platte. They concluded ministry in Hastings, serving as the Senior Adult minister at the Assemblies of God church.
Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence E. Wilkins, a six week old daughter, Ortha, two brothers, Robert & Eddie and two sisters, Rettie Morrison and Sadie Larson.
