Nita Bornemeier

Hastings resident, Nita J. Bornemeier, 91, passed away December 19, 2017, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Requiem Eucharist will be Friday, December 22, 2017; 1:30 P.M. at Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska with The Very Reverend Katie Hargis officiating. Burial will be in Saint Mark's Columbarium, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral or donor's choice. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Nita was born February 10, 1926, in Polk, Nebraska to Thomas S. & Bertha M. (Melosh) Braithwait. She married Richard "Dick" Bornemeier on October 5, 1952, and they were married 60 years; he preceded her in death on June 1, 2013. They moved from Omaha to Hastings in the 1950's.

Nita was employed as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral, where she was very active. Nita was a member of PEO GK. She enjoyed life and showed people how to work hard and live a good life. Nita was an artist in all mediums, she loved painting, needlework and quilting. She enjoyed wine and cheese with her closest friends.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard "Dick" Bornemeier; one brother; and one sister.
