Former Trumbull resident, Norma Lee Janko, 94, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, NE.
Celebration of Life and booking signing is 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings. George will be present and a light lunch will be served. Private family burial will be held at a later date in Humboldt Cemetery in Humboldt. Memorials may be given to South Central Czech Society or Harvard Rest Haven.
Norma Lee Dobrovolny was born August 13, 1924, in Humboldt, NE to Edward and Emma Dobrovolny. She graduated from Humboldt and attended Peru State Teachers School for her teaching degree. She taught at several schools in southeast Nebraska, Ayr, and Doniphan. She was married to George Janko on May 25, 1961, in York, NE. They lived in southeast Nebraska until moving to Hastings in the 1970s.
Norma worked at Hastings Casket Company, Michael Daniels, K-Mart, and Pioneer Seed Company until retiring. Norma loved birding and belonged to the Brooking Bird Club and participated in many of the State bird counts yearly. Norma enjoyed raising flowers and a large garden for many years. She canned a lot of the garden produce.
Norma and George were members of the South Central Czech Society. She held many positions and baked many kolaches for the annual program. She and George loved dancing to the Czech bands.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard; and nephew, Dale Dobrovolny.
