Hastings resident, Odis "Blue" C. Simpson, 73, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Saint Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be Saturday, April 27, 2013; 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery will Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Memorials may be given to the Veterans Administration for a memorial to be established. Book signing will be Thursday & Friday, April 25 & 26, 2013; 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Blue was born February 9, 1940 in Parkin, Arkansas to Willie Dayton & Esta Lee (Clark) Simpson. He attended Parkin High School then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1963 - 1965. He married Cynthia Harrell on December 19, 1969 at Lake Tamarisk, California. Blue worked many years as a heavy equipment mechanic for the U.S. Air Force until he retired. He spent the past three years living with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Hastings. He loved living in Hastings, playing golf with his family and sitting on his patio watching the golfers go by on #1 green at Lochland Country Club.

Blue was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bertie Lee Simpson
