Olive Arnold-Fleharty

Former Hastings resident, Olive Leone Arnold-Fleharty, 95, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Adventist Medical Center in Hanford, California.

Services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Dale Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M., and 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Royal Family Kids Camp or American Cancer Society.

Leone was born March 10, 1916 in Cowles, Nebraska to Charles & Hazel (Finney) Reeve. She married Norman Nitzel and to this union was born three children, Wanda, Roger, and Marjorie. She married George B. Arnold, Sr. in 1946; he preceded her in death in 1966. Leone then married Clarence Fleharty on October 6, 1978; he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a homemaker but also worked at the Woolworth Co., Papa Rays Pizza and Chubbyville Restaurant in Hastings. Leone was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Hastings and Lemoore Senior Center in Lemoore, California. Leone loved spending time outdoors and as a child you would often find her helping her Dad on the farm. Gardening, fishing, crafts, sewing, playing cards with the family and dancing were her favorite things to do. When you visited her home she always had her homemade goodies to serve. She especially loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leone was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George B. Arnold, Sr. and Clarence Fleharty; son, Roger Nitzel; step-daughter, JoEvelyn (Arnold) Palmer; grandson, Robert "Skip" Marsh, Jr.; and two sisters, Lois Geiger and Audrey Marcille "Betty" Strobl.
