Hastings resident, Ora "Aleen" McCoy, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.
Services will be Saturday, May 20, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings with Pastor John Whitsett officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Outlook Nebraska, Inc. to assist with the visually impaired. Visitation will be Friday, May 19, 2017; 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Aleen was born April 23, 1934, in Texas County, Missouri to Elvin & Eula (Chapman) Franklin. She graduated from Hastings High School. Aleen married Marcel G. McCoy on May 12, 1950, at Assembly of God Church in Hastings; he preceded her in death on February 8, 2008.
She was employed by Mary Lanning Healthcare as a nurse's aide and Hastings Regional Center for 20 years working as a psychiatric technician. Aleen attended Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, taught Sunday school, was a member of PTA, and was actively involved with the Nebraska Visually Impaired.
Aleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marcel G. McCoy; brother, Hubert Franklin; sister, Doris Fry; and grandson, Aaron Wetzel.
