Orpha Anderson

July 1, 1922 — November 8, 2016

Hastings resident, Orpha (High) Anderson, 94, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, November 14, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, Good Samaritan Village or donor's choice. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Orpha was born on July 1, 1922, the daughter of Leonard and Irene High of Bertrand, Nebraska. Orpha married Wayne L. Anderson in Holdrege, Nebraska on October 8, 1944. To this marriage four children were born, Donald, Phyllis, Ronald and JoNita.

Orpha retired from Mary Lanning after 25 years of service. She was active at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings, serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years and as President of the Women of the ELCA in 1987 and 1988. Orpha attended the Triennial meeting of the WELCA while President. Orpha moved to Good Samaritan in 1984. While at Good Samaritan, Orpha served on the GSV town council and volunteered at the GSV Library.

Orpha enjoyed her family and traveling. A trip to Hawaii was a highlight as were trips to Washington D.C., Chicago and other locations. She was able to travel with her husband, Wayne, and brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Rojean High of Littleton, Colorado.

Orpha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Anderson on April 5, 1984; daughter, Phyllis Pigeon on October 11, 1989; and brothers, Jack, Lee, and Paul High.
